IT-related Vendor Grants
Below is a list of grant programs from vendors closely associated with Rutgers, each targeting the interests of our research and educational community. While not solely exclusive to higher education, the grants do represent opportunities for higher education to receive funding and support from technology industry leaders.
- AT&T GEAR UP Education Partnerships
The AT&T Foundation has established a unique partnership with The National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP), providing education funding to support Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, (GEAR UP), a federal initiative that helps youth from low-income communities attain a postsecondary education.
- Blackboard/WebCt
Greenhouse Exemplary Course Project
Leadership and Evaluation
The Blackboard Greenhouse Exemplary Course Project (ECP) recognizes courses that model best practices in learning, course design, interaction and collaboration, assessment and evaluation, meaningful technology use, and learner support. For the next year's project, the Blackboard and WebCT's Exemplary Course Programs will be integrated, improved, and expanded. Nominations will open in November, 2006.
- Cisco Academic Research & Technology Initiatives
The Academic Research and Technology Initiatives (ARTI) group within Cisco is focused on engaging the Research and Education community in creating innovation, research and development opportunities for advanced networking infrastructures in research and education networks.
- EMC Corporate Community
EMC contributes funding, goods and services, including EMC products and services for a broad range of purposes.
- HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative
The HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative is designed to support the innovative use of mobile technology in K-16 education, and to help identify K-12 public schools and two- and four-year colleges and universities that HP might support with future grants.
- HP University Technology Programs
HP's grant initiatives focus on accelerating the research and development of technologies of strategic importance to HP with collaborations in the academic research community.
- IBM Scholars Program
IBM's Shared University Research program is a worldwide equipment award program designed to promote research in areas of mutual value and interest to IBM and universities. This program strives to connect the research and researchers at u niversities with personnel in organizations such as IBM Research, IBM Life Sciences, IBM Global Services and their development and product labs. This program is not aimed at supporting a single individual or research project.
- Intel Exploratory Research
The Intel Research Council, an internal group of technical experts, awards worldwide university research grants for projects designed to advance key focus research areas, such as Applications, Architecture, Communications, High Volume Manufacturing Research, Semiconductor Technology, and Systems.
- Microsoft University Relations Grants
Microsoft funds specific research or curriculum development projects pursuant to identified initiatives or programs. All funding is awarded in response to solicited proposals through private invitations and through published public requests. They do not accept unsolicited proposals.
- Sun Microsystems Academic Excellence Grant Program
Sun grants equipment to eligible organizations who have developed creative projects that address that company's investment priorities.
- Sun Microsystems External Research Program
Sun is interested in ideas and technologies that will have commercial importance in two to five years and will help provide direction to Sun engineering and product groups. Current areas of interest include JavaTM technology, Security, Internet, Networking, Software Management & Quality, High Performance Computing, Compilers, Multimedia, Communication, Computer Architecture, and Graphics. They are also interested in learning about interesting technologies they might be "missing".
- Xerox Internships and Scholarships
Xerox wants to "cultivate talent" by offering programs that will develop students' potential and help lay the groundwork for "an all-out, no-holds-barred, stratosphere's-the-limit career."
